Social and Emotional Development for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Researchers are recruiting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to participate in a study on social and emotional development. Eligible participants and their parents will be invited for an in-person visit at UCSF. Families will receive a brief summary of testing results and compensation for on-campus parking.

To be eligible, participants must:

  • Be 7-12 years old
  • Have a previous diagnosis of ASD

Exploring Strengths and Challenges of Adults with Limited Spoken Language

Researchers are focused on increasing understanding of  adults who are nonverbal or have limited use of verbal language. Eligible participants and their caregivers will be invited for an in-person visit at UCSF. Abilities will be assessed through a series of activities with adults and interviews with parents. Families will receive a brief summary of assessment results and a $50 gift card for their time.

To be eligible, participants must be:

  • 18 years old or older
  • Nonverbal or use of limited spoken language (use of augmentative and alternative communication strategy or device is allowed but not required)
  • Able to walk independently
